The Mysterious Death of Attorney Alberta Jones

Alberta O. Jones had a bright future in the law profession in Louisville, Kentucky. She was known as a trailblazer, creating a name for herself and breaking ground for women and African Americans in the legal world. She was the first black woman to pass the Kentucky bar exam and was the first female prosecutor in the state of Kentucky. But just five months after accepting the position, she beaten and thrown in the Ohio River where she died in August 1965. On Criminal Intent, we look into the life and tragic death of this remarkable woman, whose life was taken all too soon.

Note: There is also a street named in her honor: Alberta Jones Esq. Blvd in Louisville, dedicated to her name in 2018.

The Black Dahlia Part 2

Los Angeles in the late 1940s was in the stages of recovery after World War II. While people strived to find a sense of normality after years of being at war, Los Angeles would soon be haunted by the murder of a young woman found in a vacant lot, cut in half. Many suspects were investigated, but none were indicted. Will this case ever be solved? This is the story of Elizabeth Short, also known as The Black Dahlia.
